About Me
Hi All, I'm Kayla Block.
I have always nursed a passion for baking and cooking. I grew up watching my Italian grandma share her love through food. She taught me that when we bake, we often do it for others, to share, so we make it the absolute best it can be, and we do it with love. Our family revolves around the table. We gather in the kitchen and celebrate every little thing with food. Is it your half birthday? Have half a cake with half a candle ready for your half wish.
I started making iced cookies during a truly difficult time in my life. I was struggling with infertility and had just been told by the reproductive endocrinologist that there was little to no chance we could get pregnant naturally. IVF was grueling and instead of ruminating about shots, appointments, and hormone numbers, I turned my energy to cookies. I found hope, beauty, and incredible peace here. My first 2 rounds of IVF ended in heartbreaking loss and miscarriage. Baking saved me then. It kept me going. My 3rd round of IVF brought me my beautiful daughter (who’s favorite teether is a spatula, go figure!) She is my rainbow after the storm. Just as I grew up alongside my grams in the kitchen, my baby girl is now holding onto my leg as I cut out cookies and lulled into calm by my kitchenaid spinning at top speed.
Following my daughter's birth we returned to IVF in the hopes of growing our family. After facing the loss of two more baby girls, we decided to close the door on IVF and turn to adoption to grow our family. Each cookie sale will help fund our adoption journey.
I’ve come to appreciate the little things and have learned to celebrate each of the small wins as well as the life altering victories. I’m hoping to help others do the same. It doesn’t always have to be a special occasion to eat a cookie, sometimes, you just need a cookie.
